Best accessories for MacBook Pro Late 2016

Have a new MacBook Pro? You need these accessories.

New computers inevitably call for new accessories, but for Apple’s MacBook Pro, those are especially necessary: The computer’s USB-C ports may require dongles, new devices, and more. If you just picked up a new MacBook Pro (Touch Bar or no), here are my must-have accessories for it.

USB-C to USB adapter

This one’s a gimme: Unless you want to replace all your cords and cables, you’re going to need adapters for your existing devices. Luckily, Apple sells these for just $9, and Amazon has a host of adapters, too.

Lightning to USB-C cable

Sure, you could pick up an adapter for your iPhone or iPad to properly charge or sync it with your Mac, but this cable has another great use, too: You can pair it with a 29W Adapter for quicker iPhone and iPad charging.

The new MacBook Pro has a decent battery, but let’s be honest — if you’re going…

10 apps every Apple TV owner should have

Apple TV is great for more than just cord cutters. You can do all sorts of cool things, right on your TV!

I like to talk about how great Apple TV is for cord cutters. I have never paid for cable myself. So, Apple TV is my go-to device for watching content from all of my subscription-based streaming services. But, it is also where I go to play games, check out the housing market, order food, and shop. These are my favorite apps to use on a regular basis on Apple TV.

Hulu
Netflix
GrubHub
Zillow
YouTube
Kitchen Stories
Hyper
Daily Burn
Amazon App
Pandora
Bonus!

Hulu

Hulu is the app I use the most for streaming TV shows. There are thousands of titles available, with lots of day-after-it-airs shows that I can keep up to date with. There are also hundreds of movies ranging from blockbuster hits to yesterday’s favorites. Sometimes, I’ll spend the evening watching nothing but movie and game trailers, just to get excited about whats to come. Sometimes, my favorite shows are a season be…

SOS: Best ways to keep the Siri Remote from disappearing

HELP. I KEEP LOSING MY SIRI REMOTE. HOW DO I PREVENT THIS.

There are few things less aggravating or head-splittingly stressful than losing a remote control of any kind, but the Siri remote is a whole new level of where the hell did I put that thing…

See, because of its thin and compact size, the Siri remote can easily slip between couch cushions, get lost under blankets, and become impossible to find in the midst of your hectic life. I mean sure, you could always have one of those stupid wrist straps for the remote, but that doesn’t do much when it’s MISSING NOW, DOES IT?

Sorry, I didn’t mean to yell: it’s just that losing remote controls is just the worst, so I decided to go ahead and put together a conglomeration of some of the best ways to save your Siri remote from vanishing.

A wedding garter, but like, for a remote
Remote control jewlery
A shrine (aka a stand)
Lookin’ stylish with that style ring

Okay, so you’re probably like…

How to use Facebook’s new live audio feature!

What is Facebook’s new live radio feature and how can I use it?

If you’re a big fan of podcasts, or love a good book on tape, or just adore tuning into talk radio, then you’re probably going to fall in love with Facebook’s newest feature.

Meant to go hand-in-hand with Facebook’s live video feature, the live audio feature allows people to broadcast radio-like shows and segments through their Facebook pages.

That means you can broadcast concerts, recording sessions with your band, family events, incriminating evidence, and so much more!

Just as with a live video on Facebook, listeners can discover live audio content in News Feed, ask questions and leave reactions in real time during the broadcast, and easily share with their friends.

So how does it work?

Just like when someone starts broadcasting live video, there will probably be a notification indicating that someone is broadcasting live audio. The button to broadcast will probably be found around your FB status.

Will ev…

Packing tech on vacation

Over the years I’ve put together a pretty good system for packing before a vacation.

Counting days and pairs of socks so that I can get through the trip — pretty standard stuff. Packing that suitcase hasn’t changed a lot for me in the last 20 years.

But as I pack to go on a week-long trip with my family next week, it struck me: I may be a whiz at packing clothes and bathroom supplies, but I am a huge ball of stress when it comes to packing my technology. What gadgets are in my bag — and what’s loaded on those gadgets — is the thing that consumes me in the days before I take a big trip.

Loading media for vacation

The new ”packing for vacation” is loading media on your devices for vacation. Too often, vacation destinations suffer from slow, unreliable, or nonexistent Internet, so it’s usually wise for the tech savvy traveler to load up on stuff (especially huge media files) before you go. If you’re flying, you’ve also got your time on the airpl…
