Amazon Video may come to the Apple TV after all

It appears that Amazon Video may be making its way to the Apple TV after all. While a multitude of video services have been available on the Apple TV from day one, Amazon’s offering was notably absent. Now, it appears that the company is preparing an app for the new Apple TV, which could be ready in just a few weeks. Amazon customer support sent the following message to Dan Bostonweeks, who inquired about an Amazon Video app for Apple TV through the existing iOS app. I sent feedback to Amazon via the Amazon Instant Video iOS app about supporting tvOS. They say it’s in development. pic.twitter.com/52fYUgtgNs— Dan Bostonweeks (@danimal) November 28, 2015 Just as with the previous generations of Apple TV, owners of Apple’s latest set-top box can watch Amazon Video on their TV using AirPlay. Of course, if you’re still looking to get an Apple TV, you’ll need to look somewhere other than Amazon, as the retailer has discontinued the sale of the Apple TV on its online storefront. Sourc…

iPad Pro review

For productivity, for creative professionals, and for people for whom traditional computers are inaccessible, Apple offers the iPad Pro. ”That’s no MacBook…” We weren’t coming out of hyperspace. We were coming out of Apple’s September event. And it rose up in front of us, a 12.9-inch display atop a full-sized keyboard. Two apps ran on it, side-by-side. But not OS X. They were iOS. Close by a pencil drew, but in pixels. All of these elements had been seen before, of course, but never from Apple and never quite this. So, instead of turning around, we tractor-beamed our way in. So began our experience with the iPad Pro. If the original iPad was meant to fit in the space between the phone and the laptop, and the iPad mini between the phone and the iPad, the iPad Pro fits somewhere between the iPad and the laptop. Just as phones have become larger and more capable, though, laptops have become lighter and more portable. And the space between them has become narrower. Still, Tim …

Apple gets more out of its R&D budget than rivals, despite spending less

Over the last couple of years, Apple has doubled its spending on research and development to a reported $8.1 billion. Despite this, it still spends a smaller percentage of their revenue on R&D than competitors like Google and Facebook. Yet despite this, Apple gets more out of its spending, pushing its partners and suppliers to innovate in the hopes of becoming a part of Apple’s lucrative business, in particular, the iPhone. From Bloomberg: The prospect of getting a new chip, screen, or camera flash inside a future iPhone helps Apple steer other companies’ research. Apple sold more than 230 million iPhones last year and has committed to spending $29.5 billion in the next 12 months on components such as chips, screens, camera modules, and graphics processors, up from $24.5 billion last year. ”Suppliers are racing with each other to get Apple’s business, and part of the racing they are doing is spending more on R&D,” Mudambi says. A significant portion of Apple’s own R&am…
