How to find, install, rearrange, and delete apps on your Apple Watch

Want to get install, move, or get rid of a third-party app on your Apple Watch? Here’s how.

Third-party Apple Watch apps aren’t truly apps — they’re iPhone app extensions. As such, when you download an iPhone app with an Apple Watch component, that app will by default automatically install to your watch. Here’s how to prevent that from happening, add new apps, and delete apps you no longer want.

How to turn off automatic app install

If you’re worried about having enough space on your Apple Watch for music or photos, you may want to limit how many app extensions you keep on your Apple Watch. One way of doing this is to turn off automatic app install.

Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
Tap the My Watch tab (if not…

Win the new iPhone 8 or 8 Plus from RhinoShield and iMore!

We are all super excited for the new iPhone 8, and we know a lot of you are too, so we’re bringing you another contest! This time we’re working with RhinoShield. You might know RhinoShield from their CrashGuard bumper, however this year, they are releasing something quite different: a modular case for the iPhone 8.

The RhinoShield Mod case allows you to insert accessories like a lanyard, has four optional camera lenses to choose from, and allows you to convert between a bumper case or a protective case with a removable backplate. Future releases will expand the number of backplate options to include more colors, armbands, a wallet, battery, leather, mount, and more! And this case is still as protective as the CrashGuard, while being even thinner.

Keep reading for all the details and to get entered into the contest!

The Prize: One lucky reader will win the new iPhone 8 or 8 Plus and a bundle of cases from RhinoShield! Five runners-up will win their choice of RhinoShield case.

iOS 12 wish list: VIP for all messages, not just mail

VIP lets you create a separate group and notification priority for the contacts that matter the most to you. But only in Mail. That’s not enough.

Mail’s VIP — short for Very Important Person — feature is great. It lets you ”star” the people most important to you, then enable sound, vibration, and Lock screen notifications just and only for them. It’s a terrific way to make sure you’re alerted when you get email that matters, and avoid being interrupted when it doesn’t. It’s so good it shouldn’t be limited to the Mail app — it should be system-level and available to Messages — even Twitter and Instagram.

Since Apple’s about to start work on iOS 12, here’s my pitch for getting universal VIP onto the feature list!

VIP, yeah you get through to me

The line between notification and interruption is fuzzy. To paraphrase a line from The Incredibles, when everything is special, nothing is. When everything gets your attention, you lose the ability to focus.

How to use Portrait mode and Portrait Lighting on iPhone X

What exactly is Portrait mode on the iPhone, and how do you use it? Here’s everything you need to know.

Exclusively available for the iPhone X, 8 Plus, and 7 Plus, Portrait mode uses the 56mm-equivalent (52mm-equivalent on the iPhone X) ”telephoto” lens kit on your iPhone to shoot images in portrait or landscape orientation with ”bokeh”-style blurred backgrounds and foregrounds.

The 8 Plus and iPhone X also get Portrait Lighting as part of this feature: It uses machine learning and Portrait mode’s depth map to intelligently add special lighting to your photos in real time. Here’s how to use it!

Fitbit Ionic review: More fit than bit

The Fitbit Ionic is a good first attempt at a smartwatch, with exceptional battery life making up for some software shortfalls.

In the tech space, there’s a necessary tension between sales and engineering departments around when a product should go on sale, and what state the software is in at that particular time.

Right now, the Fitbit Ionic, the fitness company’s first smartwatch, is in that awkward phase any tech product inevitably finds itself when its parent company introduces a new platform and ecosystem; the hardware is excellent, in many ways surpassing what’s out there in a number of categories; but in other ways — in smartwatch ways — it’s lacking. But after spending two weeks with the Ionic, I still feel comfortable recommending the $299 fitness wearable to a particular subset of people, as long as those people know beforehand what they’re getting themselves into. Care to learn more?

Let’s walk together.

Charge all the things for $40

We all have many devices now. Whether it’s a smartphone, a pair of Bluetooth headphones, a shock collar (yeah, they charge via USB), or another smartphone, places to plug our devices in often come at a premium. There are only so many wall sockets in a house and only so many USB ports to go around.

Charge four devices at once for $40 Learn more

You need something that’s going to let you charge multiple devices at once, and you’re going to need something that does it at the same speed in every port — none of this splitting power nonsense. That’s all fine and dandy, but some USB hubs can be bulky and take up more space than you really wanted, so you’re stuck with a brick on your desk. That doesn’t sound very portable.

The Just Mobile AluCharge is an ultra slim USB charger with four ports so that you can charge up to (you guessed it!) four devices at the same time. It regularly retails for $49.95, but at iMore Digital Offers, you can get it for $39.95, a savings of 20%. The be…

How to Get the Hermès Single Tour Look for Less

Where can I find the Hermès Single Tour Apple Watch band for less? Get the timeless Hermès Single Tour look without burning a hole in your bank account!

When Hermès first launched its beautiful bands for the Apple Watch, we were pretty pumped to check them out: The rich leather Single Tour look caught our eye for its simple yet fashionable design that stayed loyal to the classic look and feel of the Hermès brand.

Unfortunately, the Hermès price tag isn’t the most reasonable for everyone (if I had $340 to spend on the real deal, I so would), but there are other awesome options out there if you’re looking to sport the Single Tour look for much, much less.

Here are a few of our favorite Hermès Single Tour alternatives to consider!
