Parcel tracking app Deliveries gets a huge update, including subscription

What you need to know

Deliveries has a big new update out for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
It brings a redesigned Apple Watch app, drag and drop, and more.
There’s also a switch to a subscription model, too.

The popular Deliveries just got better than ever.

Deliveries was already one of the best apps for tracking parcels and whatnot and whenever you see someone sharing a delivery schedule for that new Apple product it seems to be a Deliveries screenshot. The app just got a big version 9.0 update, bringing some new features and a switch to a subscription model.

Starting with the features, it’s clear that this is way more than a case of a developer JuneCloud adding a fresh coat of paint and calling it a day.

The full list of changes – and it’s a long list – can be found on the JuneCloud site but some of the biggest include:

A fresh look: We’ve touched up every detail to make it easier to keep track of your shipments. Dark mode is included, and support for all t…

You’ll love these heart rate monitors for iPhone and Apple Watch

The Apple Watch has an excellent oximeter-based heart rate monitor for tracking your day and basic workouts, but it’s not perfect for more endurance or weight-based activities. That’s because the Apple Watch only has so much battery life, and more intensive workouts drain the battery faster due to the constant heart rate monitoring. For tougher workouts, you should pick up Scosche’s Rhythm+ Monitor Armband, which we consider to be the best external heart rate monitor for Apple Watch.

Best for Most: Scosche Rhythm+ Monitor Armband

We have tested the Scosche Rhythm+ Monitor Armband, and can safely consider it the best external heart rate monitor for Apple Watch. The water-resistant (IP67) device connects to an adjustable neoprene strap. While you can wear it anywhere on your arm, Scosche recommends the forearm. (I did my initial tests with it in that location, as well.) It uses an 8-hour rechargeable battery, so you can plug it in after workouts as you might with an Apple Watch.

Eliminate dead zones with a large-scale mesh WiFi system from MeshForce

Need your Wi-Fi to stretch all the way to that back guest room? Here’s your solution.

Wi-Fi dead zones inside your own home can be infuriating when you pay good money every month for high-speed internet. In my house, we have the office on one end and the game room on the other, so no matter where you put the modem, somebody loses. A standard modem simply cannot provide reliable coverage in most two-story homes or even a one-story house with a long layout. The latest and most convenient solution to this problem is a mesh network.

The MeshForce Wi-Fi system connects to your current modem and uses multiple M3 mesh points to broadcast a strong Wi-Fi signal throughout a much larger area. The mesh network overlaps from one mesh point to the next, so your devices will connect to whichever M3 is closer. This ensures a strong connection as you move from one part of the house to another, even into the furthermost corners of your home. No more dead zones!

Apple releases macOS Big Sur public beta 4

macOS Big Sur, the next generation of Mac software, is now available as a public beta.

Apple has been offering public betas for macOS for a few years now as a way for those interested in testing out the upcoming software on their Macs, and providing feedback. If that’s you, you’ll need to sign up, enroll your Mac, download the macOS Big Sur beta (version 11.0), and install it. It’s not an overly complicated process, but we’re here to walk you through it and, if you need it, a place to get extra help.

Apple occasionally offers updates to iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS as closed developer previews or public betas. While the betas contain new features, they also contain pre-release bugs that can prevent the normal use of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Mac, and are not intended for everyday use on a primary device. That’s why we strongly recommend staying away from developer previews unless you need them for software development, and using the public betas with c…

The number of things that you can plug into an iPhone is pretty amazing and the lengths YouTube channel ”Will it Work?” will go to so they can prove it is just as crazy. Like this video that shows a Nintendo Wii Nunchuck, of all things, being used to play Mario Kart on an iPhone.

Yes, you read that right.

Yes, you’ll need an adapter or two to make this work, and sure, you probably shouldn’t be doing it any time soon. But if you do have a spare Nunchuck and you do have an urge to play Mario Kart with it, you can do it.
