Don’t let 2020 ruin Father’s Day — try out these amazing apps!

Are you looking for something to do with dad this Father's Day? Try some of these apps out for a good time together!

Father's Day is here once again, so it's time to celebrate with dad! Except that this year, it's a little different, thanks to the many shelter-in-place orders going on around the world, although some are starting to loosen those restrictions. Things may not be 100% back to normal just yet, but that doesn't mean that you can't make sure that dad has a great day. Here are some apps that will help you have an awesome Father's Day.

OpenTable

If you live in an area that is beginning to lift shelter-in-place orders, you may be able to dine-in at a restaurant by now. With OpenTable, you'll be able to check what restaurants near you are open, and since many of them will have limited seating, reservations are highly encouraged. You can also search for restaurants based on cuisine type, location, and even see what's popular. OpenTable shows you what openings are available near you and dad, and you can secure a spot for your party in a few taps.

Remember, though; availability is limited these days, so you may not be guaranteed a spot at your favorite go-to place right now.

WIRED Magazine

If your dad's favorite pastime is settling down with some good reading material, WIRED is the perfect time passer for the gadget enthusiast, or simply just a life enthusiast. There are great articles about technology, design, politics, and more.

You can download issues for offline reading and create a sort of "playlist" of favorite articles across different issues. There is the option to purchase individual issues or buy a yearly subscription. If dad already has a subscription to WIRED, he can just log in and download his collection.

If your dad's perfect day involves unwinding with his favorite tech reviews, buy him a subscription to WIRED.

Exploding Kittens

One great way to bond with your pops is with a good old-fashioned card game. But, old-fashioned card games are boring, am I right? Exploding Kittens will have you laughing until you cry with hilarious cartoon drawings of kittens in compromising positions and then some. The original card game was made by gaming legends at Xbox and the creator of The Oatmeal, so you know it's good.

You can play the game with between 2-5 people using a device-to-device connection, or even join up with strangers online. So, grab your iPhone and compete with dad and the rest of the family to see who can get to the bottom of the deck without exploding a kitten (no kittens were harmed in the creation of this game).

If you and your dad bond over friendly competition, Exploding Kittens will have you in stitches.

Heads Up!

Do you like to play charades? Then Heads Up! is a must-have game. There are plenty of categories for decks of cards, and one person will hold the phone up to their forehead with the screen facing outwards. The other players must act out the word that is displayed on the screen, and the person with the phone must guess what it is. If they can't guess it, just tilt it upwards to pass, and if they get it right, tilt it down for a point. The goal is to guess as many as you can in a minute correctly.

Heads Up! is a game that's played frequently in groups who want to pass the time, and it's easy to pick up and play for anyone. It's a must for gatherings.

And not only will Star Walk 2 reveal what you're looking at, but it is packed with information and details about celestial bodies and sky events, deep sky objects, and there is also a Time Machine mode, so you can see what's coming up or what you missed.
