Downloading CarPlay on the 2015 Hyundai Sonata

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata has finally received its long-awaited CarPlay update — and we take the updated system for a spin.

The automobile industry moves slowly. Even though Apple’s CarPlay was announced a couple of year’s ago, it’s taken a while for the different car companies to push out updates. Hyundai recently made CarPlay available for more of its lineup, so I decided to download it and give it a go.

Updating for CarPlay was simple, and can be completed at home. From the time the initial download began until the time CarPlay was ready to be used was about 75 minutes. The process can vary in length depending on your internet speeds though, because the files you have to download from Hyundai are quite large.

To begin, you need to head over to Hyundai’s site to grab the download file. You will also need to pop the Maps SD card out of your car and plug it into the SD card slot or card reader in your computer. Each file has to be downloaded and transferred to the SD card. Tak…

Mophie’s latest Juice Pack cases let you charge your iPhone wirelessly

Mophie has introduced a couple of new battery cases for Apple’s more recent iPhones that let you charge your device wirelessly. The new Juice Pack Wireless line for the iPhone 6 and 6s, along with their corresponding Plus models, allow you to just place your phone on a compatible charging spot without needing to plug it in first.

The new Juice Pack Wireless cases support most existing wireless charging accessories, including those powered by either the Qi and Powermat charging standards. They also include their own wireless charging base. Both the phone and the case will charge together, rather than one after the other.

To go along with these cases, Mophie has created new desk and vent mounts, allowing you to charge wirelessly at your desk or at your car. Your phone will stay in place thanks to the Juice Pack Wireless’ custom magnets, which let you quickly attach and orient your phone to your preferred viewing position.

You can grab the new Mophie Juice Pack wireless cases direc…

Apple reportedly moving to three-year iPhone design cycle

While Apple has previously offered substantial changes to the design of its flagship iPhone line every two years, the company is said to be moving to a three-year design cycle. The upcoming iPhone 7 will reportedly take after the design of the current model, which debuted in 2014 with the iPhone 6.

From Nikkei Asian Review:

The new version slated for this autumn will look almost identical to the current iPhone 6. Functions such as the camera, water resistance and battery capacity will likely be improved, and the headphone jack will be removed. Also, a high-end version of the model will give users better-quality photo capabilities via correction functions.

Nikkei expects this move to have a major impact on Apple’s bulk suppliers across Asia. These companies rely on Apple and the iPhone for much of their business.

The move to a three-year design cycle for the iPhone lines up with previous reports about not only the iPhone 7, but also the iPhone set for 2017. The latter mode…
