How to block contacts on FaceTime for iPhone and iPad

Stop annoying video callers dead in their tracks by blocking them in FaceTime.

You can block a contact from trying to FaceTime you — and phone you and iMessage you — at any time. Whether it’s a former significant other, friend, relative, or associate you’ve fallen out with, or a spammer or prank caller harshening your mellow, block them once and they’re silenced forever. (Or at least until you decide to unblock them.)

EU to Ireland and Apple: $14.5 billion, please

The European Union says Ireland needs to recover $14.5 billion in taxes from Apple.

Following a two-year investigation, the European Commission has concluded that the tax breaks Ireland has been giving Apple are illegal under EU state aid rules.

From the press release:

The European Commission has concluded that Ireland granted undue tax benefits of up to €13 billion to Apple. This is illegal under EU state aid rules, because it allowed Apple to pay substantially less tax than other businesses. Ireland must now recover the illegal aid.

Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, in charge of competition policy, said: ”Member States cannot give tax benefits to selected companies – this is illegal under EU state aid rules. The Commission’s investigation concluded that Ireland granted illegal tax benefits to Apple, which enabled it to pay substantially less tax than other businesses over many years.
