iPhone 11 bend test shows it’s built like a tank

What you need to know

JerryRigEverything conducted his durability test of the iPhone 11.
The iPhone 11 survived easily, passing the bend test with flying colors.
It also held up really well when testing the front glass and aluminum frame.
You can bend it but the iPhone 11 won’t give out.

Last week, YouTuber JerryRigEverything got his hands on the iPhone 11 Pro and conducted his durability test. As expected, Apple’s high end flagship held up and passed the test rather easily. Now, he’s back with the iPhone 11 to see how the iPhone for everybody will hold up.

Spoiler alert, it is built like a tank.

JerryRigEverything’s durability test videos comprise of testing out the front glass, speaker grille, frame, camera, display and overall rigidity. The iPhone 11 performed at the same level as its more expensive counterpart did for most tests.

The glass, although strong, will still easily retain scratches at the same level the iPhone XR did last year. The aluminum frame is strong but sc…

Tim Cook confirms Apple Card will go international

What you need to know

Tim Cook is in Germany for Oktoberfest.
He told Bild that Apple wants Apple Card to go international.
He also visited an App developer and chip team.
Apple Card may take a while to reach other countries, though.

Apple CEO Tim Cook is in Germany for Oktoberfest and during an interview with Bild he said that the company hopes to be able to take Apple Card international – including to Germany.

Apple Card is currently only available in the United States and while those outside the country had hoped that the credit card would launch internationally, information is thin on the ground. Confirmation from Cook that plans are in motion is good news, although he did add that it will take time due to all of the red tape that stands in the way.

While in Germany Cool took the opportunity to meet with Karim Morsy of developer Algoriddim, maker of Djay.

From an Apple intern to a developer success story! Wonderful to see how Karim Morsy and @Algoriddim are making DJi…

Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition did not need a re-release for Switch

Some things don’t get better with age.

The race to re-release every single game that has ever existed for the Nintendo Switch rumbles on with the re-release of Sniper Elite 3, a fairly decent action-adventure game with a focus on sniping both through accurately modelled ballistics and an obscene X-ray killcam, showing bones shatter and organs rupture as your bullets pass through them.

Upon its release in 2014, it was generally agreed to be fine by everyone involved. It’s a distinctly British-feeling stealth game, full of derring-do and exploding skulls, and there’s a certain amount of charm to it. That hasn’t changed. However, the re-release for the Nintendo Switch proves that not everything’s a perfect candidate for a bit of spit and polish before hawking it on Nintendo’s eShop, and even nostalgic fans would be better served by digging into this current-gen title on their own devices than buying this offering.

The Nintendo Switch Lite is compatible with the Poke Ball Plus controller

Best answer: Yes, the dedicated handheld Switch does work with the Poké Ball Plus controller. It’s great to use with the Pokemon: Let’s Go games; however, most other Switch games are not compatible or won’t be as easy to play using the Poké Ball Plus.

I choose you: Poké Ball Plus ($46 at Amazon)
Electric: Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! ($45 at Amazon)
Fluffy: Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! ($44 at Amazon)
Handheld hero: Nintendo Switch Lite ($200 at Amazon)
What is the Poké Ball Plus?

It’s an exclusive Nintendo Switch controller shaped to look like a Poké Ball from the Pokémon series. It was originally designed to be used with Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!. It’s a fun accessory to have whether you’re playing these games on your Nintendo Switch or the Switch Lite.

Thanks to the motion controls available with these controllers, when players play the Let’s Go games they’re able to mimic the action of throwing Poké Balls…

You should be backing up your Mac in more than one way — try three

How do you back up your Mac locally and off-site or online so all your important photos and files stay safe and sound? Like this!

You absolutely have to back up your Mac. If you don’t, one day — maybe tomorrow, maybe next week or next year — you will lose something important and irreplaceable and there will be nothing future you can do but curse at and blame past you. I don’t say this to scare you. I say it to save you. Back up. Do it now. And do it like this.

Why do you need to back up?

One copy of your data is no copies at all. That’s because hard drives and solid state drives (SSD) fail. They fail all the time. Two copies of your data is basically one copy, since there’s a chance both could fail at the same time.

To make sure your data is safe you want to back it up in a way that minimizes the chance you could ever lose it. Realistically, that means a local back up as well as an off-site or online backup.

What’s a local back up and how do you do it?

A l…

Wirelessly use your Xbox One controller on your Nintendo Switch Lite

I absolutely love my Nintendo Switch Lite. It’s super portable, feels great in my hands, and is nice to look at. However, certain games aren’t as easy to play without an external controller. Thing is, purchasing additional controllers like Joy-Cons or the Pro Controller can get expensive. The good news is that if you already have an Xbox One controller then you can pair it with your small Switch and play wirelessly. Here’s how you do it.

Note: Whenever you use an external controller with the Switch Lite it’s best to have the gaming system setup on a play stand since the smaller Switch doesn’t have its own kickstand. I recommend the Hori Compact Playstand. I use it all the time and it folds compact when I’m done with it.
