There are a ton of options on the market, but the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 shines above most of the competition by offering exceptional performance in portability, sound quality, and price!

Best Overall: Ultimate Ears Boom 3

Taking the Boom 3 to your next pool party is no problem. It has a high water-resistant rating, allowing it to be submerged in 3 feet of water for 30 minutes. It’s also protected against dirt and mud, but you can hand-wash the speaker with warm, soapy water just in case it gets messy. Plus, if you truly want the Boom 3 to live up to its onomatopoeic name, you have the option to set up another one (or up to 150 Boom speakers) to make a stereo pair and really raise the roof!

Japan gets a new anime Apple ad showing its products in popular shows

What you need to know

Apple shared a Japanese ad to its YouTube channel.
The ad shows Apple products used in popular anime shows.
There’s Japanese music through the whole ad.

You don’t need to speak Japanese to enjoy this.

Apple has shared a new ad to its Japanese YouTube channel, with the whole thing showing different Apple products in some of the country’s most popular anime shows.

I’m not down with the anime kids, but Cult of Mac assures me that the ad includes ”scenes from shows like Mr. Osomatsu, NEW GAME!!, your name., Weathering with You and more”.

Beyond the Mac, new stories are born one after another. A story that is not yet in this world. Come on, you too.

I haven’t got a clue what the music is, or what the words are, but now it’s stuck in my head and I think I might need to start learning Japanese….

Will unlocked iPhones be a thing of the past in this new cellular era?

Up to this point, it’s been fairly easy to get your hands on an unlocked iPhone. But with the 5G era truly kicking off, there are questions as to whether Apple will offer an unlocked 5G iPhone. If you look at 5G phone launches throughout 2019, they were all carrier-locked, so you may think it’s impossible.

Here’s how I think everything might break down, and why.

Stepping into the 5G age

Right now, you can buy any new iPhone unlocked using a couple of methods, and both include buying directly from Apple. First, you can pay the whole cost of your iPhone up front and select the SIM-free option…
