How to find Apple Music songs you’ve added to your library

Want a playlist of all the songs you've added from the Apple Music streaming catalog? Here's how.

I don't know about you folks, but I've already added a bunch of Apple Music's streaming catalog to my library in the last 24 hours. Apple Music's "Add to Library" button makes it devilishly easy to collect new music, which is awesome for listening to new tunes. But what about finding those songs? Here's a quick couple of Smart Playlists you can make in iTunes on your Mac that will collect anything you've downloaded from Apple Music or downloaded recently.

Unfortunately, both of these playlists require iTunes on OS X, and you won't be able to view them on your iPhone or iPad; any track you add on your iOS devices will pop up in these playlists when you get back to your computer, however.

Option 1: Use iCloud Status

  1. In iTunes, go to New > Smart Playlist.
  2. Under "Match the following rule," change the categories to: "iCloud Status" "is" "Apple Music".
  3. Make sure Live Updating is checked.
  4. Press OK.

After doing so, you'll have an automatically-updating playlist of any song added to your library from the Apple Music catalog.

Option 2: Use Date Added.

This option will just collect recently added songs to your library, whether they be from Apple Music or otherwise—but if you want a playlist that encompasses all your recent downloads, here's how you do it.

  1. In iTunes, go to New > Smart Playlist.
  2. Under "Match the following rule," change the categories to: "Date Added" "is before" "6/29/2015".
  3. Make sure Live Updating is checked.
  4. Press OK.

This will collect any songs you've added since Apple Music's launch. You can also adjust this date accordingly, or change "is before" to "in the last" if you want to add a date range, instead.
