Reports that Apple was planning to introduce a new Mac trade-in program to stores in the U.S. and Canada are now official.
A report last week suggested Apple would introduce the new trade-in program this week:
Apple may be adding another product to its popular in-store Trade-in Program: the Mac. Reported by Bloomberg the company plans to begin allowing customers to trade-in their used Macs at a physical Apple Store, something that customers have not yet been able to do.
According to the report, Apple plans to launch the new trade-in program on June 15th in the United States and June 18th in Canada.
On June 16, Apple updates the FAQ for its trade-in program, removing a sentence that stated that the service for Mac trade-in was only available online.

Apple's Trade In FAQ now states:
Can I see what my device is worth online, then bring it with me when I buy a new device in the store? Yes, the Apple Trade In program is available on apple.com as well as in all our retail stores.
However, keep in mind that the trade-in credit you get in the store may be different from the estimated trade-in value you received online.
Apple's estimated trade-in values for Mac models is as follows:
- MacBook Pro Up to $1760
- MacBook Air Up to $690
- MacBook Up to $480
- iMac Pro Up to $3850
- iMac Up to $1390
- Mac Pro Up to $1580
- Mac mini Up to $1100
If you previously thought you could trade in a Mac at an Apple store, then you're technically not wrong. Ever since Apple introduced its online-only Mac trade-in service, store staff have been trained to assist customers in carrying out the online process in-store, even shipping the old Mac for the customer. The difference now is that staff will be able to do this on Apple's retail systems, using the credit to offset the price of a new purchase immediately in-store.
