Zane Lowe isn’t sure that Apple Music needs Beats 1

Zane Lowe, one of the DJs who curates the tunes on Apple Music's Beats 1 channel, seems to have some doubts about the future of the digital radio station. In a new interview, when asked if Apple Music needs Beats 1, Lowe said candidly, "I'm not sure it does"

According to The Telegraph, Lowe made his remarks in a chat during the Radio Festival 2015 in London:

"We're working this out, time will tell," he said. "We've been going three months, I don't have the answers. I hope that there's a place for it… This is in progress, and over time we'll find out exactly why [it's needed]."

Beats 1 launched alongside Apple Music in June. Alongside Lowe and anchor hosts Julie Adenuga and Ebro Darden, Beats 1 also features shows from the likes of Pharrell Williams, Elton John, and hip-hop artist and Beats co-founder Dr. Dre.
