Pangea Software creates tutorial for adding 3DTV support to Apple TV apps

After garnering quite a bit of interest over its inclusion of 3DTV support in its lineup of Apple TV games, Pangea Software has now created a tutorial for developers going over how to add it to their apps. Says Pangea Software:

"There has been a huge amount of interest in the fact that all of Pangea's tvOS games support 3DTV, so I decided to go ahead and write up a tutorial to make it easy for other developers to add it to their apps as well," says Brian Greenstone, President of Pangea Software, "We kept this under wraps prior to launch because we though it would surprise a lot of people, and it seems that it did." Greenstone goes on to explain that the Apple TV 4 does not intrinsically have support for 3DTV's. There are no special API's to do it, but rather it's just a matter of OpenGL code, and setting up the TV to recognize the 3D signal.

Pangea Software unveiled its initial slate of Apple TV games last week, surprisingly including support for 3DTVs, which created quite a bit of buzz. The tutorial released today goes through a step-by-step process, including example code snippets that developers can take advantage of. If you're a tvOS developer looking to do the same with your games, you can check out the tutorial at Pangea's website now.
