Psychonauts 2 is finally coming, if Double Fine can get the money through crowdfunding

One of the most acclaimed games of all time, Psychonauts, is finally getting a sequel, if developer Double Fine can get $3.3 million via crowdfunding. It is raising the money via a new company called Fig, which is hosting the Psychonauts 2 crowdfunding effort.

Psychonauts was first released in 2005. It was a platformer with the player controlling the character Razputin, who uses his psychic abilities to explore the minds of others. While the game got great reviews, it sold poorly in its first effort by publisher Majesco, but in 2011, Double Fine got the rights back to Psychonauts and it has since become a sales success via digital distribution.

Here's what Dobule Fine has in mind for Psychonauts 2.

"In Psychonauts 2, Raz realizes his dream and visits Psychonauts Headquarters. However, when he gets there, he finds it's not the perfect place he expected and quickly realizes that the Psychonauts need him more than he needs them.

"Psychonauts 2 will feature a new hub world inside Psychonauts HQ. You'll access new mental worlds as Raz peeks inside the minds of a host of new characters who need his help to combat their inner demons and unravel their deep-seated emotional issues. Raz will hone his secret agent PSI-abilities—and learn new ones too—using them to solve mysteries and uncover evil plots."

The company plans to release the game for Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox One and Playstation 4 platforms.
