Wikipedia gets a makeover along with 3D Touch and Spotlight support

Wikipedia has released a major update to its app for iPhone and iPad, introducing a brand new look, along with support for 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s, and Spotlight search in iOS 9. Additionally, the app has added basic support for the screen resolution of the iPad Pro, though it doesn't yet support Split View or Slide Over multitasking.

Here's what you can expect from Wikipedia 5.0:

  • Explore feed - Content tailored to your interests, surroundings, and featured articles and images. Including:
    • Featured article of the day
    • Top read articles
    • Picture of the day
    • Random articles
    • Nearby articles
    • Recommended articles based on what you've read
  • Simplified navigation - tap, swipe, and touch to easily move from article to article, save articles for later reading, and never lose your place-- now including support for 3D touch gestures.
  • Improved search - Find an article in any Wikipedia-supported language. The app now supports emoji search and Spotlight search for saved articles.*
