The UK government is working on a way to store your driving license on an iPhone

The UK Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is working on an electronic version of the driving license for storage on smartphones. As spotted by the BBC, chief executive Oliver Morley tweeted a photo showing a prototype of said license using Apple Wallet on an iPhone. Before cries are called in the name of all things plastic, this electronic advancement is not set to replace the current license, but serve as a more convenient add-on since we always have our smartphones with us.
It's an interesting move by the DVLA considering bank, gift, and store discount cards have already gone digital. It could also make it easier for drivers to have their information updated on their license and have an up-to-date version at hand while they wait for the plastic counterpart to be sent in the post. The BBC notes that the driver's license is expected to be available in digital form by 2018.
