New Apple Campus 2 drone footage shows off R&D center, solar panels, and dirt

It's time again for yet another drone flyover of Apple's Campus 2, showing the progress being made on the company's new headquarters. The big highlights this month's video, once again from Matthew Roberts on YouTube include the exterior of the research and development facility, which is nearly complete. Solar panel installation of the parking structure is almost finished as well.

Additionally, the cranes have once again moved to new positions around the campus, foundation work has begun at a facility on Tantau Avenue, while other buildings on that street are growing quickly. The auditorium is under even more construction foam now.

The video also highlights some facts about the upcoming campus. When it's finished, 3,000 glass panels will have been used to build it, totaling 1.23 million square feet of glass. Additionally, the solar panels will generate 16 megawatts of power, with another four coming from fuel cells.

Construction on Campus 2 is expected to finish this year, and the facility is on track to open in 2017.
