Sports Illustrated, ESPN show why you want the iPhone 7 Plus camera

If you're making your purchasing or upgrade decision about iPhone 7 based on the camera quality, Sports Illustrated and ESPN have some good news for you:

On Sunday, Sports Illustrated photographer David E. Klutho took photos with the new iPhone 7 Plus camera at the Titans-Vikings game. The iPhone 7 Plus has a 12–megapixel telephoto camera that offers new zooming capabilities. Each new model also features a wider aperture and a lens that allows the camera to capture brighter and more vibrant colors in photos and videos.

Meanwhile, photographer Landon Nordeman shot some impressive "fan photos" of the US Open for ESPN:

Working with the new two-camera system on the iPhone 7 Plus encouraged Nordeman to react instinctively and quickly to the moments he discovered around the grounds while looking like another fan.

Stunning.

They're not quite what you'd get from what sports photographers typically shoot with — foot-long Canon or Nikon lenses — but the clarity and colors are now within the realm of "I don't have to lug around all that glass and I'll still get shots like this? Hand me that iPhone!"

I hope Klutho and Nordeman share their thoughts in a follow-up. Meantime, go check out all the shots.
