There have been so many titles this year, it was hard to choose!
The Nintendo Switch is building a massive library of games at a pretty impressive speed. In no time at all, the total amount of games on the Switch will put the library of the original NES to shame. That's a lot of games.
With so many titles to choose from it can be a little overwhelming to pick what to play next
We took a look at all the games that have been in released on the Switch in 2018 thus far and made a list of the very best. These are the games you can't miss. Here's what we came up with!
Celeste
One of my absolute favorites on the Switch for 2018 came out in the very beginning of the year. Celeste offers an incredibly tight and satisfying 2D platforming experience. You play as a young woman battling her way to the top of Celeste Mountain. This game can be incredibly challenging but it's every bit as rewarding as it is difficult. You can pick it up over on Amazon for only $20.
Hollow Knight
If you are a big fan of Metroidvania-style gaming, you're in luck. This year saw the release of one of the very best in the genre: Hollow Knight. This one has a lot of depth to offer. The controls are responsive and satisfying in a palpable way and as you play through the game, there's always more to discover. At only $15, Hollow Knight will give you a lot of bang for your gaming buck.
Dead Cells
If you can't get enough of the Metroidvania genre, the Switch is turning out to be a fantastic console for you. Dead Cells only came out in early August but it's already made an impression. You'll get all of the Metroidvania-style gameplay that you would expect with the addition of some roguelike elements. It isn't the most forgiving game ever — you better be mentally prepared to die repeatedly but you'll be rewarded for your diligence. You can pick up a copy on Amazon for $35.
Octopath Traveler
The Nintendo Switch has a lot of really awesome 2D platformers but it's also starting to build a stellar library of RPG games. Octopath Traveler is one of the best ones the Switch to date. Square Enix released a beautiful game that is clearly influenced by decades of classic RPG titles. Build a team of awesome adventures with their own stories, skills, and desires as you explore the world of Orsterra. You can dive into the action by getting your own copy from Amazon for $55.
2018 has been a pretty impressive year for the Switch thus far. There have been enough great games that it made choosing our favorites a little difficult. I can't wait to discover what games the rest of 2018 has in store!
