Photos just look better using these filtering tools, no?

When time isn't your friend, Photo filters get the job done quickly

Perhaps the simplest way to edit a photo on iOS and iPadOS is to use a built-in Photos filter.

The Photos app for iPhone and iPad offers 10 filters — including vivid, dramatic, mono, silvertone, and many more.

How to use filters in Photos for iPhone and iPad

Filters are handy when you want to salvage an image or a photo that didn't turn out the way you'd hoped, or you want to change the mood and go for a unique effect.

  1. Launch the Photos app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap on the photo you want to filter.

  3. Tap the Edit button at the top right of the screen.
  4. Tap the Filters button in the bottom menu in the middle.
  5. Scroll, then tap on the filter you want to apply.
  6. Tap Done.

When you're ready to push your iPhone photo-editing to fun, new level, consider a third-party app, which offers more choices than the native Photos app. Among the more interesting ones available in the App Store are Prisma, Popsicolor, and Olli by Tinrocket.
